9/4/25 Construction Update
And we're back! I couldn't get another post in before leaving on vacation the end of August. Apologies for the delay but here's where things are at:
✅ Structural Steel [mostly] completed
❌❌❌❌❌ Structural cross-bracing in the way of doors & windows (5x times)
✅ Bar joists [mostly] completed (construction lingo: bar joists = rafters or joists)
✅ 2nd floor deck completed and being prepped for the slab pour
✅ Openings being created and prepped for doorways into the existing building
❌ 1in fire alarm conduit "found" (was it at 2pm on a Friday before vacation? Of course it was!)
❌ 2in water main "found" (was it at 2pm on a Friday before vacation? Of course it was!)
❌ 3in drain line "found" (was it at 2.......ok you get the point)
❌ 4in sewer line "found"
✅ 5in lines were nowhere to be found
❌ 6in HVAC water loop Supply "found"
❌ 6in HVAC water loop Return "found"
✅ Private utility locator company expediently deployed to the work site. (was it at 8am on a Saturday morning before vacation? Of course it was!)
✅ Private utility locator paints enough multi-color lines in the dirt to rival Joseph's coat
✅ New 4in sewer line run around all the "found" lines and tied into the sewer main
✅ All lines repaired, covered, and road patched
✅ Beautiful dry weather
✅ Special inspections completed
✅ All flooring, tile, & grout finishes picked out. (If you like them, tell me I did a great job. If you don't like them, tell Becki Peek she did a terrible job.)
✅ HVAC units delivered and stored onsite
✅ Cooling tower arrived at the warehouse and is ready for delivery
Looking Ahead
- Cooling Tower Replacement Sept 9-12
- Prepping & pouring the slab for the 2nd floor
- Finishing the roof deck (after concrete is poured)
- Begin Roof Install
- Begin stairs install
- Fire alarm panel & device replacement Sept 23-26 (existing building)
Sunday, September 14
Want to get your boots on the ground? After each service (weather permitting) I'll take a group of folks around the exterior of the building to see the building progress. And you don't need boots, we'll be on pavement. Unless you're from Texas. Then you can wear your boots. And tell everyone about how you're from Texas.
But I know you don't come here to read indirect insults toward Texans or the writing content in general. Nor am I employed or sought after for my writing skills. Instead, you can check out the progress pics below! Although for that matter, nor am I employed for my photography skills. So really, please enjoy my mediocre attempts at all the content presented in this feature. At least you know there's no way AI is writing this thing. Or do we really know that for sure these days?
