7/31/25 Construction Update
We're reaching new heights! The steel started being put in place today and it's so exciting to see the frame start to take shape. Here's what's happened in the last few weeks:
✅ Footings prepped / bolts epoxied for steel to be fastened
✅ Roof overhang above Room 208 taken off to accommodate the steel structure
✅ Plumbing rough-in completed
✅ Gravel spread and compacted for the future slab
❌ Conduit providing power to the Cafe was "found" again (shoutout to the electrician replacing the same conduit and wire run twice in the same month)
❌ A 10PM "visit" from the York County Fire Department after a sprinkler system malfunction.....due to the Cafe power being knocked out, again.
✅ Lots of hours spent pumping water out of the footings every time it rains (shoutout to site supervisor Harry)
✅ Resolved some issues
❌ Found some new issues
✅ Planned the Fire Alarm replacement for late September in the existing building so that it can accommodate the new addition.
✅ Steel got delivered onsite
✅ Steel erection began
So far, we're still pacing on schedule and everything's been taken in stride as issues come up and get resolved. We currently have one large(r) un-resolved issue and we're trying to figure out the placement of the Team Room doors; the planned location has steel cross-bracing in the way on the original building so the engineers are working on alternatives.
Looking Ahead:
The month of August will be full with all the steel and bar joists getting installed and by the end of the month it should look like a building! The 2nd floor slab should be poured around the end of August (weather permitting), and the first floor slab will be poured sometime in September. The roof is scheduled to begin in early September as well as all of the wall framing to begin on exterior and interior walls.
